Just wanted a few opinions on a couple of Johnson Matthey bars I picked up today. As you can see the serial numbers are inscribed in two different styles. The two bars themselves are identical in weight and dimension and both passed an acid test using a testing stone and a new bottle of JSP testing acid. My only concern is the style of the etching with the bar on the left. It is much more rigid and almost looks like it was done by hand, where as the other bar is smooth and machine like.
I know JM bars are faked and available on the alibaba website. Has anyone seen a fake in person? What does the serial number look like?
Any thoughts.

Johnson Matthey Silver Bar Serial Numbers? What I am curious about is the serial number prefixes. I have some with an A and some with a C prefix. Johnson Matthey Gold Lookup Serial Numbers We Have Interestingly, most of the serial numbers we have found start around 500,000, whereas the Variety A appear to end at just under 200,000. It looks like JM skipped serial numbers, or overproduced and melted large quantities.
