AirPlay 2 system requirements

The following devices support streaming with AirPlay 2. If your device meets the requirements below, but you can't use AirPlay, learn what to do.

Devices you can stream audio from

  • iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 11.4 or later
  • Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD with tvOS 11.4 or later1
  • HomePod with iOS 11.4 or later
  • Mac with either iTunes 12.8 or later or macOS Catalina
  • PC with iTunes 12.8 or later

Devices you can stream video from

  1. I'd just like it to not load the Airplay devices at all, so it doesn't get hogged up with them. Information about my system: OSX 10.9.3 (on both a Macbook and an iMac). Things I've tried: Chmodding the mDNSService to 000 (doesn't work that well) Blocking the ports associated with Airplay announcements (5353).
  2. Though Scrcpy works on Mac and Linux as well, the setup is a little bit more complicated. It requires basic knowledge of terminal commands and build commands. If you wish to use it on a Mac or Linux you can check out the XDA link and follow the steps to run this setup on your Mac and Linux machine.

Airplay Airplayxpchelper Little Snitch Free

  1. You can stream only audio from Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD using AirPlay.
  2. To use Siri to play and control video on a smart TV, you need an AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV that supports HomeKit. HomeKit isn't supported on Samsung smart TVs.
  3. Some third-party speakers might require a firmware update to support AirPlay 2 streaming. Go to the manufacturer's website to learn more.
