Arcadia Machine & Tool, commonly abbreviated to AMT, was a firearms manufacturer from Irwindale, California. The company produced several weapons, primarily clones of existing firearms, but made from stainless steel rather than the traditional steel[specify] used for most firearms of the time.[1]

  1. The goal of this website is to be a complete set of reference materiel for AMT firearms, as you can imaging not all of the content on the site belongs to me and this has been a real community effort, feel free to pop over to the forum and say Hi if you want to meet some of the others who have supported this process.
  2. A five thousand serial numbered frame with a Pasadena Barrel could be considered to be a mismatch of barrel to frame. This would be especially true if the frame did not contain a Pasadena bolt, etc., etc. There have been cases of North Hollywood guns first being sold with A017000 serial numbers.

The sixth gun manufactured was serial number 46 and was. Also the two guns in National Firearms Centre (formerly Pattern Room) have their serial numbers. RANGE REPORT-AutoMag II I took the AMT AutoMag II to the range today with CCI MIni-Mag 22WMR ammo. And here is what I found: The magazine is tough to get all 10 rounds into and the gun really does not always like the magazine filled beyond 8 rounds. D serial number suffix manufactured 1959-1963. Serial numbers 49201 DER to 60201 DER were shipped in 1976.

The company filed for bankruptcy after their products were marred with quality and reliability problems, and the assets and trademark were acquired by Irwindale Arms Incorporated (IAI). Later, in 1998, Galena Industries of Sturgis, South Dakota, purchased the company and produced firearms in the style of AMT's until 2001 when Crusader Gun Company (later High Standard Manufacturing Company) of Houston, Texas purchased it.[2]

Our Assessment: The Automag IV is one of four automatic pistols manufactured by Irwindale Arms Inc. after it purchased AMT in 1988. AMT would later re-acquire the rights to the pistols in 1991, making the iAi pistols something of a desirable area in AMT collecting. The Automag IV is similar in design to other Automag series pistols, but chambered for the powerful .45 Winchester Magnum. Popular with both hunters and silhouette shooters, the .45 Win Mag can push a 230 grain projectile to an astonishing 1,600 feet per second! This example is in Fine condition and even has an intriguing serial number, RCZ-1. We have seen previous auction listings both for this pistol and for an Automag III with the same serial number, but we haven’t found any explanation for the odd serial designation. It will certainly make for a great addition to an AMT collection and could be a fun research project for the lucky winner. Don’t let this one pass you by. Please see our photos and good luck!
